I agree with ryan from Australia, if you're just going to bring in a brand new coin just place it on top of the stack. this isn't even a trick...
Wouldn't it be just as easy to place the copper coin you introduce on top of the silver coin? Technically the silver coin is now second from the top if you do this, and the puzzle never said you couldn't make the stack higher than it originally was.
